China’s KASN Lighting Exports 500 Integrated Solar Streetlights to Liberia, Advancing Green Energy in Africa
In a major boost to sustainable development in Africa, KASN Lighting, a leading Chinese manufacturer of renewable energy solutions, has successfully shipped 500 units of its cutting-edge all-in-one solar streetlights to Liberia. The $500,000 consignment, which arrived in Monrovia this month, will be deployed across urban and rural areas to improve public lighting and safety.
The solar streetlights, designed and produced by KASN Lighting, integrate high-efficiency photovoltaic panels, long-life lithium batteries, and smart LED technology. Built for off-grid environments, the systems operate autonomously for up to five days on a single charge, ensuring reliable illumination even during prolonged cloudy periods—a critical feature for Liberia’s tropical climate.
“This project directly supports Liberia’s vision to expand renewable energy access and reduce dependence on costly diesel generators,” said [Liberian Official’s Name], Minister of Energy and Utilities, at a recent inauguration event. “These solar streetlights will enhance nighttime safety, lower carbon emissions, and cut energy expenses for communities.”
The initiative falls under China’s Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), which prioritizes green infrastructure partnerships across Africa. Over the past decade, China has emerged as the continent’s top supplier of renewable energy equipment, with KASN Lighting playing a key role in delivering solar innovations to over 20 African nations.
In Liberia, where approximately 85% of the population lacks reliable electricity (World Bank data), the new streetlights will illuminate critical roads, schools, and healthcare centers, fostering economic activity and social well-being.
“Our all-in-one solar streetlights are engineered for simplicity—easy to install, maintain, and scale,” said [Your Name/Title, e.g., "Mr. Li Wei, CEO of KASN Lighting"]. “By partnering with Liberia, we aim to demonstrate how clean energy can drive sustainable progress while creating local jobs in installation and upkeep.”
The project also highlights China’s broader commitment to global climate action. By exporting affordable solar technologies, KASN Lighting and its peers are helping African nations meet Paris Agreement goals while reducing reliance on fossil fuels.
With this shipment, Liberia joins Kenya, Rwanda, and Nigeria in adopting KASN Lighting’s solutions to power inclusive growth.
